Looking back on 2017, UK-based Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ group commercial director Chris Coates singled out the addition of Columbus to the fleet, new departures from Wales and Ireland ports and the introduction of multi-generational cruise as some of the highlights.

Columbus was introduced in June 2017 and carries 1,400 mainly British passengers accommodated in 775 cabins including 150 cabins for solo occupancy and became the new flagship of the CMV ocean fleet operating alongside Magellan (1,300pax), Marco Polo (800pax), Astor (600pax) and Astoria (550pax).

On January 5, 2018, Columbus will set sail from London Tilbury on a 121-night round the world voyage. It will 20 years to the date since this popular cruise ship operated her maiden world cruise, related Coates.

In 2017, the CMV fleet sailed from a record number of ex-UK and Ireland departure ports and operated 87 cruises.

2018 will bring the addition of further ex-UK departure ports including Bristol Port, alongside CMV’s existing Bristol Avonmouth, Harwich, Poole, Portsmouth and the Irish port of Cobh sailing on 92 different cruises.

In 2018, CMV is launching a range of new itineraries including, the Med, Scotland and Ireland and Canada in the fall.

CMV has introduced eight multi-generational cruises in 2018 where younger passengers are welcome on board to holiday with their parents or grandparents.
