Agustin Barrera returns to Bermello Ajamil as architecture director

With 30 years of experience, Agustin Barerra has a wealth of knowledge about the entire design process
Agustin Barrera has been appointed partner, VP and director of architecture – Florida, Latin America and the Caribbean, at Bermello Ajamil & Partners.

The maritime architecture teams in Florida will report to Barrera, and he may handle additional maritime projects. He will answer to Willy Bermello, principal and chairman of the board.

Joins from AECOM

Barrera, who has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the architecture field, joins B&A from AECOM’s architecture and design practice, where he served as VP for planning design and development, as well as Florida business unit leader for buildings and places. In that role Barrera provided operational direction, project delivery and technical leadership. Prior to AECOM, he was managing principal for Leo A. Daly’s Miami office.

Reputation for creative solutions

Highly client-focused, Barrera has a reputation for exceeding client expectations, while continuously providing creative solutions for a range of complex design challenges.

Earlier, Barrera worked at B&A from 1988 to 1999, and was a B&A partner from 1994 to 1999. During that time, he worked as a project manager on an assortment of projects including 404 Washington Avenue, Terremark Centre, Miami Dade College (Wolfson Campus) Building 3 and Florida International University Kovens Conference Center.

Expertise in architectural design, construction administration, project management

With experience in all facets of architectural design, construction administration and project management, Barrera has a wealth of knowledge about the entire design process, ensuring proper resources and outstanding client support.

As director of architecture, he will develop client relationships and business opportunities for the firm, and collaborate closely with B&A teams to deliver the next generation of projects while using the firm’s global expertise.

Barrera is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
