The cancellation of the week-long West Med itinerary also affects passengers scheduled to embark the vessel in Barcelona on September 7.
AIDAprima will undergo the check at a shipyard in the region, said the cruise line.
AIDA Cruises said all guests affected by the cancellation will be contacted personally and not only be granted full refund, but also a 50% discount on a future cruise.
Passengers who have chosen to make own arrangements for their journey to and from Mallorca will also get these expenses repaid on presentation of respective documentation (booking confirmations, invoices, etc.).
According to AIDA, the supplier recommended a short-term technical inspection of AIDAprima's propulsion system, advice that the operator says it decided to follow.
The inspection can, according to AIDA Cruises, only be done at a shipyard while the vessel is out of operation.
