American Constellation - two cruises added to the start of the inaugural season have sold out
American Constellation has left Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland, with construction complete ahead of schedule for its inaugural season.

Earlier this year, when it became clear the coastal vessel would be completed early, American Cruise Lines added two Chesapeake Bay cruises to the start of the inaugural season, one on May 6 and the other May 13. Both cruises are sold out.

American Constellation will also operate the line's new 'Grand New England' itinerary, with the official inaugural cruise celebration set for May 21.

'The American Constellation is beautiful and we are thrilled to have it early,' said Timothy Beebe, vp, American Cruise Lines.

Sister ship American Constitution is also ahead of schedule and is now available for booking. Along with the two new coastal ships, American Cruise Lines recently announced it has begun construction on what could be up to five modern-look river vessels, sans paddlewheels.

Beebe said more details about the first in the series will be disclosed soon.
