American Consitution's new features include acoustical treatments and vibration dampening systems for a quieter ride
American Cruise Lines' first new ship of 2018 successfully completed sea trials in Chesapeake Bay.

With US Coast Guard officials on board, American Constitution underwent speed trials and an endurance run and was thoroughly tested in all areas of safety and maneuverability.

'The American Constitution passed with flying colors,' said Paul Taiclet, VP hotel operations, who was aboard for the sea trials. 'The ship performed exceptionally well and has a number of enhancements that further American’s tradition of innovation in small ship cruising.'

New 'American Revolution' itinerary

Some of those new features are acoustical treatments and vibration dampening systems that make the ship extremely quiet even when running at full speed.

American Constitution’s inaugural cruise from Baltimore is scheduled for April 18. This will be the line’s first 'American Revolution Cruise,' a 10-night sailing around Chesapeake Bay featuring ports central to US history.

The ship will spend the remainder of 2018 on the East Coast, operating a series of trips in summer and fall from Boston and New York.
