The ship is now positioned at Chesapeake's East Outfitting Basin for the addition of upper decks and outfitting.
Second in a series of five
American Harmony continues a series of five planned, modern-style vessels for the US rivers. It has six decks, large all-balcony cabins, a five-story glass atrium and a bow that opens to extend a gangway.
Construction has also begun on the third ship in the series.
The first, American Song, began sailing its sold-out inaugural season on the Mississippi in October.
Summer 2019 debut
American Harmony is scheduled to begin its inaugural Mississippi service in summer 2019. It will replace American Song, which is repositioning to the Pacific Northwest for Columbia and Snake river itineraries March through October next year.
