American Cruise Lines' newbuild, American Harmony, moved under its own power to Chesapeake Shipbuilding's outfitting pier at 5 this morning.

The vessel was launched in November and is well ahead of schedule for its Aug. 17 inaugural cruise on the Mississippi River, the company said.

Modern riverboat series

American Harmony is the second of five newbuilds scheduled for American's modern riverboat series, following American Song, which entered service last fall.

Construction of American Jazz, the third vessel, is well under way at Chesapeake Shipbuilding, American said, and planned to be lauched in about three months. Delivery is set for 2020.

Further deliveries are scheduled in 2021 and 2022.

More deluxe suites

American Harmony has the same sophisticated, modern design and technical features as American Song, including an opening bow and retractable gangway. American Harmony offers 10 more deluxe suites on its upper deck and features roomy, all-outward facing accommodations with private, furnished balconies. Like American Song, American Harmony sports a dramatic, multi-story glass atrium.
