American Queen Steamboat Co. expanded its sales and management team with three new hires. Cruise veteran Nicola Volpe joined as vp hotels, while Barbara Davis is now business development manager and Krystle Sampson has been named regional sales director.

'As we expand capacity it is exciting to welcome three new members to our growing team,' said Ted Sykes, president and chief operating officer. 'Each of these individuals brings with them exceptional experience and ability, and we are looking forward to seeing their contributions to the American Queen Steamboat Company.'

Volpe brings vast experience from Prestige Cruise Holdings where he served as director of newbuilds and hotel operations. He helped launch Regent Seven Seas Explorer, touted as 'the most luxurious ship ever built,' and managed other newbuild and refurbishment projects. He earlier held roles of increasing responsibility at Oceania Cruises, Renaissance Cruises, Royal Viking Line and Sitmar Cruises.

Volpe initially will be responsible for building up the hotel department for American Duchess, which enters service in August.

As business development manager, Davis is tasked with building awareness and interest in American Queen Steamboat Co. products through training, relationship building and sales activities with travel agents and consumers. Davis will be working remotely from Southern California and reports to Bob Salmon, vp sales.

After starting with the company on board American Empress, Sampson assumed her new position in May. She is responsible for representing AQSC in a multi-state territory, selling steamboat vacations to consumers and travel agents alike. She, too, works remotely, from St. Louis, Missouri, and reports to Salmon.
