Carnival Corp. & plc's Arnold Donald is scheduled to unveil a new and innovative guest-experience technology during his keynote address at a major tech event in January.

Donald, Carnival Corp.'s president and ceo, will deliver the opening keynote address at CES 2017, Jan. 5, in Las Vegas, the Consumer Technology Association announced.

It is the first time a cruise line executive has such a high-profile role at CES.

Carnival Corp.'s innovation uses IoT to create a new guest experience level based on personalization and simplicity at scale. The company will offer an invitation-only Experience Center at CES to provide an in-depth look into its new technology.

'Carnival Corp.’s visibility at CES reflects our focus on groundbreaking innovation and underscores that technology no longer has strict, defined boundaries. It disrupts traditional business sectors and empowers consumers in ways never before imagined,' said Gary Shapiro, president and ceo, Consumer Technology Association.

A recent CTA study found consumers overwhelmingly use technology to enhance their travel experiences. Donald’s address will demonstrate how Carnival Corp. and its 10 global cruise brands are using innovative technology to provide a more personalized and enhanced experience for travelers.

Nearly 11m people cruise annually with the company.
