David Rousham, vp UK and international development, confirmed that Australia has overtaken Germany as the third largest source market for Cunard after the UK and US.

Rousham, a speaker at the 2018 WLCL Summit aboard Majestic Princess, said it is ‘the fastest growing market in the world for Cunard.’

He said 90,900gt Queen Elizabeth is currently undergoing a refit before she makes Cunard’s first homeporting in Australia for two months between February and April 2019.

‘Until 2019 we have been a temporary visitor to Australia,’ he remarked.

He said the speed at which Queen Elizabeth’s inaugural deployment in Sydney and Melbourne 2019 had sold, prompted the decision to homeport her in Australia for an unprecedented 101 days between December 2019 and March 2020.

Name of new Cunarder revealed in about a year

He relayed he is not at liberty to name the new ship that is joining Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth as the fourth member of the fleet in 2022.

The new name will be released in about a year, and that it will be ‘appropriate.’

It will go on sale in March 2020.

‘Our hope is to eventually bring the new ship to Australia,’ he said.

Start spreading the news

Andrew Perry, Cunard’s talented national account manager, stole the show at Summit 2018 with a spectacular tap dance routine and a song he wrote to the tune of New York, New York. It went: Start spreading the news It won’t be too hard We’re the benchmark in luxury We are Cunard.
