Australian godmother for AmaStella

Australian godmother for AmaStella
Perth travel agent and cruise specialist, Carole Smethurst, owner of multiple award-winning Bicton Travel, will christen APT’s latest European river ship AmaStella in Vilshofen, Germany, on June 14.

APT’s owner, Geoff McGeary, whose father founded what became Australian Pacific Touring in Melbourne in the 1920s, became a co-owner of AmaWaterways in 2005 and the first jointly-owned European river ship, AmaDagio, was launched in 2006.

The 158-passenger AmaStella, which will sail the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers, will have connecting cabins for families, a luxurious beauty and massage salon, a fitness studio, a heated pool with swim-up bar and a fleet of bicycles for shore excursions.

APT Group director Robert McGeary, Geoff’s son, will attend the christening ceremony. Vilshofen’s mayor, Florian Gams, will welcome AmaStella and the local community has been invited to take part in the festivities.

Robert’s wife, Rebekah McGeary, christened AmaVenita in Wurzburg last May.
