Baie-Comeau, located on the shores of the St Lawrence River, north-east of Quebec City, finished its cruise season on a positive note.

Nine ships including Pearl Mist, Seabourn Quest, Balmoral, Crystal Serenity and Silver Whisper, berthed in the port, its best season to date.

The port of Baie-Comeau welcomed more than 4,500 cruise passengers and 2,700 crew with the majority coming from the UK and US.

On September 25 the port welcomed its 25,000th cruise passenger, from Belgium sailing on Seabourn Quest.

According to Karine Blais, coordinator at Baie-Comeau Cruises, the weather was good this summer resulting in an average  90% disembarkation rate, 10% more than last year.

Over 1,300 tours were sold, wit the most poplar being Garden of the Glaciers and a walk  through Baie-Comeau and visit to Jean-Lesage Manic-2, one of the largest multiple arch dams in the world and its generating station.

2015 looks promising, adds Blais  with seven ships booked for next year. The season will start on September 5, 2015 with Seabourn Quest and cruise lines are also booking their visits to Baie-Comeau for 2016, with eight vessels scheduled.
