Tidal Wave - a boomerang-style slide features a steep drop that propels riders up a near vertical wall for a moment of weightlessness
The first boomerang-style slide at sea is among a collection of water slides called the Perfect Storm that are destined for Liberty of the Seas as part of a month-long drydock in February. The work will add features including 79 staterooms and new dining options for cruisers from the ship's new homeport, Galveston.

Tidal Wave, the boomerang-style slide, features a steep drop that propels riders up a near vertical wall for a moment of weightlessness and into free fall. The Perfect Storm also features two racer slides, Cyclone and Typhoon, which will be located at the aft of the ship alongside the Flowrider surf simulator.

In addition, kids will have their own zone with the introduction of Splashaway Bay, with water cannons, geysers and more.

During the drydock Liberty of of the Seas will also get more dining options including modern Mexican cuisine at Sabor, with such dishes as Oaxacan ceviche of red snapper or spicy chicken flautas. Guacamole and salsas are made tableside.

Further additions are Giovanni’s Table, a trattoria featuring Italian classics served family style, and the R Bar, a classic cocktails spot with a sophisticated 1960s vibe.

New accommodations include 26 panoramic ocean-view staterooms with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, as well as an additional 53 staterooms throughout the ship.

After redeploying from Bayonne, New Jersey's Cape Liberty, Liberty of the Seas will sail Sundays from Galveston starting this November. Destinations include Belize City, Cozumel, Falmouth, Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Costa Maya and Roatán.
