Boston plans family shindig, Bermuda nod as cruise season opener
'Family Art Day' at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal will officially kick off Cruiseport Boston's 2015 season on Saturday. The festivity, coinciding with Veendam's Bermuda embarkation, also has a Bermuda theme.

Children ages 7 and up will be painting canvases to be pieced together, patchwork-quilt-style, for display inside the newly-renovated Terminal 2.

The art will be visible for the season's expected 300,000 passengers.

Officials scheduled to be on hand Saturday include Massport ceo Thomas Glynn and chief administrative officer-maritime Lisa Wieland; Rich Doucette, executive director, Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism; Pat Phillip-Fairn, chief product & experiences development office for the Bermuda Authority; and Holland America Line's Ben Atherly, director, port operations.

Cruiseport Boston expects 115 calls during the April to November season.

Massport said cruise operations provide more than 950 direct jobs and generate nearly $80m in economic impact each year and $25m in annual local, state, and federal tax revenue.
