Brazil waives tourist visas for 4 additional nations during Olympics
Brazil waived the visa requirement for tourists from the US, Canada, Australia and Japan from June 1 to Sept. 18, a period including the Aug. 5-21 Rio Olympic Games.

The waiver applies to tourists arriving at seaports as well as airports, which would be great news for international cruisers but it's off season for Southern Hemisphere cruising.

Two cruise ships will be on hand for Rio 2016, as far as Seatrade Cruise News is aware. Both are charters.

Norwegian Getaway will be used by the Olympics Organizing Committee, and unavailable for the general public, in a charter arranged by Miami-based events specialists Landry & Kling, while Worldwide Cruise Associates of Plantation, Florida, has arranged the charter of Silver Cloud.
