A call by Saga Pearl II on Dec. 18 for the Christmas markets will end a solid season for Columbus Cruise Center Bremerhaven, where growth is expected in 2016 with such vessels as the new Mein Schiff 5.

This year Bremerhaven chalked up 61 cruise calls carrying approximately 66,000 passengers. Next year 95,000 passengers are forecast.

The season starts March 23. TUI Cruises plans eight visits, with the new Mein Schiff 5 of particular note. Phoenix Reisen, a regular, will send the chartered Deutschland, first on May 7, in addition to calls by Artania, Albatros and Amadea.

In addition, Columbus Cruise Center Bremerhaven will handle Meyer Werft newbuilds from the Papenburg yard as they dock for final outfitting and official handover to their owners.
