According to NOLA.com, Giora Israel, svp, Global Port & Destination Development Group, Carnival Corp. & plc, said New Orleans is in a perfect location to benefit from Cuba cruises when those become possible.
He did not indicate if Carnival is pursuing that business.
Israel made his remarks at the 2016 Platinum Associate Membership Advisory Council Conference of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association and in an interview with NOLA.com.
The Carnival executive played a role in facilitating the first cruise from the US to Cuba in nearly 60 years when its Fathom brand got the go-ahead for Adonia to begin service from PortMiami in May.
