Canyon Ranch SpaClub treatments and heatlhy menu options on board are now supplemented by wellness tours ashore
Oceania Cruises, known for Canyon Ranch SpaClub facilities and healthy menu options, is extending its wellness offer shoreside with exclusive tours focused on wellness and healthy living. These feature everything from thermal baths favored by the popes to meditation in beautiful surroundings, yoga overlooking the Mediterranean and even stress-reducing laughter.

Wellness Tours Inspired by Canyon Ranch will debut with Riviera’s and Marina’s April 9 and April 10 sailings. Tours initially will be offered in France, Spain, Italy and Greece.

'Thoughtfully inspired by the philosophies at the heart of Canyon Ranch, this exclusive tour series extends the wellness experience available on board our ships to immersive well-being explorations ashore in serene, hand-picked Mediterranean locales,' Oceania president and ceo Bob Binder said.

He added that even if travelers have been to the destinations, the tours provide a new way to experience them, and a new way to cruise.

For Canyon Ranch this initiative helps further its mission of transformative wellness, according to chief marketing officer Kathleen Shea. 'Wellness is a lifestyle and these new exclusive excursions will enable travelers to experience our integrative values by way of luxurious Oceania ships in destinations around the world,' she said.

A day can begin with healthy Canyon Ranch breakfast options such as a three egg-white omelet with seasonal vegetables and cheese. The morning may continue with a wellness tour in Taormina, bringing the mind-body invigoration of a yoga class to the beauty of Sicily. Back on board, travelers can relax at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub with a soothing Canyon Stone Massage or a detoxifying Seaweed Leaf Wrap. At dinnertime, Canyon Ranch selections in the Grand Dining Room include steamed Maine lobster atop savory Castilla-La Mancha saffron rice.

Oceania Cruises is also offering Canyon Ranch wellness specials, pairing select SpaClub treatments with the new tours, offering savings while encouraging travelers to take advantage of the line’s full suite of wellness amenities. Reservations for Wellness Tours Inspired by Canyon Ranch will open April 1.

Among the tours is 'The Pope’s Thermal Baths' (from Civitavecchia), featuring an afternoon of relaxation at the Viterbo Terme dei Papi, the Thermal Baths of the Popes, in this famed papal city. Originating in Etruscan times, the Viterbo baths offer a thousand-year-old therapeutic tradition, drawing kings, popes and artists throughout history.

'Vinyasa Yoga at Monte Carlo Bay,' at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort set on a peninsula overlooking the Mediterranean, offers stunning views as travelers take part in a private vinyasa yoga class.

For 'The Greek Gods of Wellness' (from Corfu), Ambelonas, an artisanal organic goods company and one of Greece’s most stunning wine estates, serves as the backdrop for uncovering insight on emotional, spiritual, intellectual and physical wellness during a stroll around the lush vineyard and herb plantation. The experience is crowned with meditation and yoga session followed by a wholesome plant-based lunch.

'The Life of Laughter' (Palamos, Spain) focuses on the benefits of laughter, including the rush of stress-reducing endorphins released as participants have a laughter session in an elegantly restored farmhouse-hotel in the heart of the Costa Brava.

The new Wellness Tours Inspired by Canyon Ranch were announced during a wellness-dedicated session at Seatrade Cruise Global.
