Libby Moffet, who launched MG Media Communications with her husband, Bill Gray (hence the MG), in Sydney in 1993, has decided to close down and take a well-earned break to spend time with her family and ‘contemplate new horizons.’

Moffet has had an extensive career in journalism, including her role as aviation and tourism writer for the Australian Financial Review and this has given her an excellent understanding of the media landscape.

Gray, who retired two years ago, also had a lengthy pr and media career, including eight years as head of the corporate affairs team at the Australian Tourist Commission (now Tourism Australia).

In 1994 MG Media won a tender to provide public relations support for P&O Cruises Australia, which had one full-time ship at the time, the legendary Fairstar, and Moffet has worked for the company ever since.

The role also included pr for Princess Cruises and P&O Cruises UK in Australia and with the creation of Carnival Australia in 2005, MG Media also took on Cunard and Seabourn.

In 2014 MG Media was awarded the pr account for Carnival Cruise Line and it has represented CLIA Australasia since 2005.

Moffet has helped Carnival Australia maximise exposure, from primetime television news and mainstream news articles through to business media, specialist travel and lifestyle outlets and social media platforms.

A highlight of her job was the historic Royal Rendezvous in Sydney in 2007 when Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2 met up with Queen Elizabeth 2 and the city came to a standstill.

Carnival Australia executive chairman Ann Sherry thanked Moffet for her years of dedicated service to its brands as well as the industry.

‘Libby has been an integral part of the Carnival Australia team during all the big moments that have defined our industry,’ Sherry said. ‘She has been very much part of our overall success story.’
