June 3 court review
Judge Patricia Seitz will review the deal during a June 3 court date to decide whether to accept it or reject it and set a probation revocation hearing.
Details of the deal were not released, and Carnival Corp. had no comment.
Since 2017, all Carnival Corp. ships have been on a court-supervised environmental compliance program set to last five years. In April, Seitz threatened to block Carnival vessels from US ports after probation violations were reported.
Pledge to assure full compliance
'We have been taking steps to address the improvement areas mentioned in the report, and to build on the positive progress noted by the court-appointed monitor to make sure we are in full compliance moving forward,' Carnival Corp. said at the time.
In 2016, the company pleaded guilty to illegal dumping of oil-contaminated wastewater from Caribbean Princess in a case that had been under investigation since 2013. The company paid a $40m fine, the largest-ever criminal penalty involving deliberate vessel pollution.
