Carnival kicks off Vista construction videos with bird's-eye view
Carnival Cruise Line is showcasing the construction of Carnival Vista with monthly behind-the-scenes videos shot at Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard.

Host Peter Gonzalez, who has traveled to 30 countries to create videos showcasing the Fun Ship fleet, is documenting Carnival Vista’s 26-month construction.

In the first video, 'Birds's-Eye View,' Gonzalez dons a hard hat and shows the process for cutting the steel sheets and assembling them into blocks and sections for the 1,055-foot-long vessel—the largest in the Carnival fleet.

Gonzalez goes high above the shipyard in a 200-foot-high crane to survey the newbuild and surroundings.

Future segments in the video series include preparations, on board and ashore, to create Carnival's first on-board brewery, a below-deck look at the technical spaces and the logistics of installing the three-deck-high IMAX Theater, the first on a cruise ship.

Carnival Vista is scheduled to enter service May 1, 2016, in the Mediterranean, then reposition to New York for a series of voyages in November, followed by the launch of year-round Caribbean service from Miami later that month.
