In preparation for its Port Canaveral debut this spring, the 130,000gt Carnival Magic is undergoing a multimillion-dollar drydock at Grand Bahama Shipyard to add dining and bar choices. They include Guy’s Burger Joint, RedFrog Rum Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar, Pizzeria del Capitano and Alchemy Bar.

Currently based in Galveston, Carnival Magic will reposition to central Florida in April to begin year-round Caribbean departures.

2010's Carnival Magic was the first Carnival Cruise Line ship to feature Cucina del Capitano Italian restaurant, the Caribbean-themed RedFrog Pub and SportSquare outdoor recreation facility.

'Following this extensive refurbishment, Carnival Magic will offer even more exciting on-board choices for travel agents to market to their clients,' Carnival president Christine Duffy said.

The two-week docking began Sunday and lasts until March 6.

New additions include Guy’s Burger Joint, a free, poolside venue developed with Food Network personality Guy Fieri.

Also poolside, the new RedFrog Rum Bar will serve Caribbean rum-based frozen drinks and beers, including Carnival’s own ThirstyFrog Red, while BlueIguana Tequila Bar will offer tequila-based frozen drinks and beers.

Pizzeria del Capitano will expand Cucina del Capitano and offer five varieties of hand-tossed, artisanal-style pizza, all available free of charge 24 hours a day.

Alchemy Bar is a vintage-themed cocktail 'pharmacy' where mixologists 'prescribe' concoctions from different elixirs and ingredients.

Carnival Magic will continue its seven-day schedule from Galveston through April 10, then reposition to Port Canaveral for weeklong cruises beginning April 23. Prior to this, the ship will operate a three-day getaway to Nassau, April 20-23.

From Canaveral, Carnival Magic's western Caribbean itinerary will include Cozumel, Belize, Roatán's Mahogany Bay and Costa Maya, while its eastern route visits St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk and Nassau or Amber Cove.
