Carnival Cruise Line will add a second year-round ship in Tampa with Carnival Miracle, replacing it in Long Beach, California, with the newer, larger Carnival Splendor. The changes take place in early 2018.

Just before, both ships will offer extended Panama Canal cruises in January 2018 calling at ports throughout the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. Carnival Splendor will also operate a couple Hawaii cruises round-trip from Long Beach.

'Tampa and Long Beach are both highly convenient and popular homeports and we’re delighted to provide our guests with exciting new year-round cruise vacation choices in these two markets,' Carnival president Christine Duffy said.

Carnival Miracle's seven-day cruises from Tampa start Jan. 27, 2018. The ship will sail Saturdays and Sundays to Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Roatán's Mahogany Bay and Belize City. The sailings include Carnival's 'Cozumel Plus,' extended stays at the Mexico port that enable additional shore excursions.

The 2,124-berth Carnival Miracle joins the 2,052-berth Carnival Paradise, which sails year-round four- and five-day Caribbean cruises from Tampa. Carnival is the only full-calendar operator from the port and expects to carry 320,000 passengers annually with the two ships.

'With this addition the port and the Tampa Bay community will host over a million cruise passengers for the first time ever and bolster its position as a Top 10 cruise port,' port president and ceo Paul Anderson said.

The 3,006-berth Carnival Splendor's Long Beach sailings begin Jan. 27, 2018, replacing Carnival Miracle for a 41% capacity increase on the line’s week-long cruises from the West Coast.

Three different itineraries will be offered. One visits Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta, another spends two days at Cabo San Lucas and a full day in Puerto Vallarta, and a third overnights in Puerto Vallarta with a day-long call in Cabo San Lucas.

Carnival Splendor joins Carnival Inspiration and Carnival Imagination which operate three- and four-day Baja cruises from Long Beach. With the addition of Carnival Splendor, the line will carry upwards of 700,000 passengers annually from Southern California, on nearly 250 three- to 14-day cruises a year.

Carnival Splendor's 13-day Panama Canal cruise departing Miami Jan. 14, and arriving in Long Beach Jan. 27, 2018, makes it the first Carnival ship to transit the newly opened Panama Canal locks. The itinerary includes Cartagena; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; and Cabo San Lucas.

Additionally, Carnival Splendor will operate two 14-day Carnival Journeys cruises to Hawaii round-trip from Long Beach—one Oct. 13 and the other Dec. 1, 2018. They visit Maui, Honolulu, Kona and Hilo, as well as Ensenada, Mexico.

Carnival Miracle's repositioning Panama Canal cruise, 14 days, departs Long Beach Jan. 13 and arrives in Tampa Jan. 27, 2018. Ports include Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Quetzal, Puntarenas, Cartagena and Grand Cayman. Carnival Miracle will also sail an eight-day Panama Canal cruise round-trip from Tampa April 14, 2018, with stops at Limón, Costa Rica, and Grand Cayman, along with a partial Canal transit.

A special 14-day Carnival Journeys cruise featuring a partial Canal transit along with visits to Cozumel, Limón, Cartagena, Aruba, Curaçao and Ocho Rios will be operated by Carnival Miracle round-trip from Tampa Dec. 2, 2018.
