Carnival Splendor had been destined for P&O Cruises Australia but instead will remain in the Fun Ship fleet
The new deployment for Carnival Splendor—which was scheduled for transfer to P&O Cruises Australia in 2019 but is now remaining in the Carnival Cruise Line fleet—is expected in the coming months.

'We are currently working on all of our deployment plans for the entire fleet for the period through April 2020,' a Carnival spokeswoman told Seatrade Cruise News. She added: 'Specific plans with respect to Carnival Splendor will be announced in the coming months.'

Also pending is which Fun Ship will join resident Carnival Spirit to sail year-round in Australia in the future. Carnival Spirit has homeported Down Under since 2012. Since 2014, Carnival Legend has joined the ship for the summer season in Sydney, and it's been planned to sail from Melbourne in early 2018.

Which vessel will be the second one in Australia year-round is also part of the ongoing deployment planning, the Miami-based spokeswoman said.

There is speculation Carnival Splendor might be heading to Australia after all to take up that operation.
