Carnival Splendor will make her maiden cruise from Sydney in December 2019
Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy, who is visiting Sydney from Miami this week, announced the 3,900-passenger Carnival Splendor will be permanently based in Sydney from December 2019.

The company entered the Australian market when the 2,680-passenger Carnival Spirit was permanently homeported in Sydney in October 2012.

Since September 2014, Spirit has been joined part-time by Carnival Legend.

It was also announced that Carnival Spirit’s 2020 itineraries will be revealed in June.

Duffy said Carnival Splendor will undergo an extensive drydock before its arrival Down Under.

‘Today’s announcement reflects Carnival’s serious commitment to the Australian market,’ she said. ‘We’ve had over 800,000 Australians cruise with Carnival since we launched in Australia just five years ago.'

Bookings for Splendor’s initial Australian programme open next month.
