Celebrity Millennium gains movies under the stars, refreshed suites, new dining
Movies viewed under the stars paired with a specially curated menu, freshly redecorated suites and a fully realized Italian steak house are among the changes to Celebrity Millennium during an $8m drydock, completed May 12.

The vessel is emerging with the same enhancements that Celebrity Summit and Celebrity Infinity recently received. Passengers sailing on Celebrity Millennium in Alaska this summer will be among the first to experience the new spaces and amenities.

'We have added new elements and experiences that will help open up the world for modern luxury travelers, from our gorgeously updated Suite Class staterooms on board to the amazingly delicious Tuscan Grille menu, and, of course, the new Rooftop Terrace,' said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and ceo, Celebrity Cruises.

On Deck 12, the Rooftop Terrace, complete with its large screen, chaise lounges, cabanas, soundscape and decorative lighting, serves as the backdrop for the multisensory 'A Taste of Film.' This presents films that evoke a specific cultural, culinary or destination experience, paired with cuisine that brings the scenes on the screen to life. Celebrity's culinary team, led by Michelin-starred chef Cornelius Gallagher, specially crafted a multi-course tasting menu for each 'A Taste of Film' selection.

Additional drydock enhancements included significant renovations of the ship’s Penthouse and Royal suites.

As part of a heavy Suite Class investment for Celebrity Millennium, every Penthouse and Royal Suite received new fixtures, marble surfaces and comfortable seats in the bathrooms. The rest of the suite has been refreshed with new carpeting, drapes and bed linens.

The Olympic restaurant converted into Tuscan Grille, Celebrity’s Italian-inspired steak house that debuted on its Solstice-class ships. This includes a complete refinishing of the space and a new menu featuring fresh pasta made in-house. There's also an Italian cocktail menu, a first for Tuscan Grille. A wine list focuses on the wine-growing regions of Italy, and new dishes include artisanal salami and cheeses; crispy crab arancini with lemon pepper aioli; grilled branzino with spinach and olive oil; swordfish with Castelvetrano olives, fennel and white wine; and oven-roasted USDA Prime dry-aged steak.

The maritime artifacts in the Olympic restaurant were relocated to a special display area in the casino’s entry vestibule. Items include charts, maps, an original place setting, a ship model and more. Meanwhile, the casino's themed décor was removed.

Other drydock changes included the addition of an enclosed portrait studio similar to that found the Solstice-class ships, Celebrity Eclipse and Celebrity Equinox, and a new future cruise sales office.

The Solarium was refreshed with new furniture, floors and refinished pool tops, while finishes in the spa café were updated.

Celebrity Millennium entered drydock on April 26. This summer, the ship will sail open-jaw cruises between Vancouver, BC, and Seward, before heading to Asia in September for a season there.
