Seabourn president Rick Meadows told delegates at the World’s Leading Cruise Lines' 2018 Partnership Summit, the company’s goal is to be the undisputed leader in the ultra-luxury cruise market.

Meadows and his snr vp global sales and marketing, Chris Austin, gave everyone a ‘Seabourn Moment’ when they hosted a morning tea of Champagne and caviar aboard Majestic Princess.

He said business in Australia has grown 30% in the last year and 600% in the past seven years.

Austin said the company’s biggest competitors are luxury resorts and he is targeting LLLs — luxury landlubbers.

Although Meadows declined to say where Australia comes as a global market source for Seabourn, he said it is strategically important.

‘Australia is up there as a source market and it has been very exciting to watch it grow,’ he said.

Agents offered a 'Carnival Moment'

Travel agents at the conference had what could be called a ‘Carnival Moment’ when vp Australia and New Zealand, Jennifer Vandekreeke, said every delegate was invited to go on an overnight cruise to nowhere from Sydney aboard Carnival Splendor on December 10, 2019.

The 3,900-passenger ship will be homeported in Sydney from December 2019 for year-round cruising, while, as previously reported, Carnival Spirit will homeport at the new international cruise ship terminal at Luggage Point, a joint venture between Port of Brisbane and Carnival Australia that is due for completion in the second quarter of 2020.

Vandekreeke announced there will be a green and gold waterpark aboard Carnival Splendor with a green thrill slide that will take Green Thunder aboard Carnival Spirit to a new level. She said that, like Green Thunder, a consumer competition will be held to name Splendor’s green thrill slide.
