American Constitution is launched into the Wicomico River
American Cruise Lines has another newbuild in the water. American Constitution was successfully launched into Wicomico River in Salisbury, Maryland, on Tuesday morning.

The vessel is being built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury.

American Constitution is the sister of this year's American Constellation. A coastal ship with full, active wing stabilization, American Constitution can carry approximately 175 passengers in large, well-appointed staterooms with balconies.

'We’re happy to announce that construction of American Constitution is well ahead of schedule,' said Timothy Beebe, vp of American Cruise Lines. 'We were incredibly pleased with the success of the launch. The team at Chesapeake Shipbuilding continues to exceed our expectations.'

American Constitution is scheduled to begin service on the East Coast in spring 2018.

Last week it was announced that American Constellation will move to the West Coast, doubling the company’s capacity in the Pacific Northwest for the 2018 cruise season.
