‘Knowing how to navigate Smartraveller will ensure agents are in the best position to advise clients,’ Joel Katz said
Cruise Lines International Association Australasia and Smartraveller, the official advisory portal for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), have developed a new e-learning module that travel agent members can access via CLIA’s Learning Academy.

Smartraveller is a one-stop-shop covering more than 170 destinations, with the latest advice on everything from security issues and health concerns to natural disasters and visa and passport requirements.

The new module explains the different levels of travel advice, what to do when things go wrong and how DFAT can help.

CLIA Australasia and Asia md Joel Katz said it is essential for travel agents to know how to access and understand the government’s advice as cruise travellers from Australia and New Zealand are going to every corner of the world.

‘On any given day there can be an issue affecting any country and it is absolutely vital that agents provide their clients with timely, accurate and relevant advice,’ Katz said.
