Tasmania’s appeal continues to resonate with domestic and international travellers, Joel Katz said
The state government of Tasmania today released a 2017/18 cruise market update and regional ports review which has been embraced by CLIA Australasia.

The government’s initiative supports the growth of cruise tourism in Tasmania, examines market demand globally and looks at ways it can participate in the growing industry and encourage regional dispersal.

Sustainable destination management

‘CLIA Australasia supports the Tasmanian government’s commitment to work with the cruise industry, reinforcing our own focus on sustainable destination management,’ md Joel Katz said.

‘We applaud its undertaking to support the development of quality shore excursions to support the increase in cruise visitation,’ Katz said.

Cruise spending totals A$34.5m

‘The most recent Economic Impact Analysis reported that cruise passengers and crew spent A$34.5m in the state, with tourism operators, retailers and the hospitality sector benefitting from increased cruise visitation.

‘We look forward to working with the Tasmanian government to support the continued and sustainable growth of cruise tourism.’
