CLIA ports summit draws 200 delegates on eve of Seatrade Europe
Cruise Lines International Association's second annual Port & Destination Summit brought together more than 200 delegates from 28 countries, representing port authorities, destinations, shore excursion operators and port agents, and included nearly 50 cruise line executives.

The event preceded Seatrade Europe in Hamburg and followed last year's Port & Destination Summit in Barcelona, held prior to Seatrade Med.

CLIA said the format was intended to facilitate dialogue on the port and destination community’s role in the growth of the global cruise industry. The gathering included round table discussions, presentations and concurrent sessions.

Keynote speakers were Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman, MSC Cruises, and CLIA Europe chairman; Adam Goldstein, president and chief operating officer, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., and CLIA Global chairman; and Cindy D’Aoust, CLIA acting ceo.

The summit was extended a second day this year and included a new social event, a dinner river cruise. Interactive itinerary planning workshops were also added to the agenda.

CLIA’s next event is its Executive Partner Summit, Oct. 27-29, in Miami. Information is here.
