CLIA revamps Executive Partner program; Scalliet is leaving, a research director is joining
Cruise Lines International Association has restructured its Executive Partner program, and Didier Scaillet, vp business development, who spearheaded that area as well as the association's global research agenda, is leaving at year's end.

Joining CLIA in a new research function is Alison Powers. As director of research, she will guide the association's research strategy via a newly established research committee.

This will 'support all of CLIA’s efforts and bring additional value to our members as we promote the value of cruising, advocate for legal and regulatory environments that facilitate further growth and tell the positive story of our industry through evidence-based research,' according to Christine Duffy, president and ceo.

Scaillet will transition out of his role with CLIA at the end of the year. Duffy expressed her appreciation for his contributions to 'help guide CLIA’s evolution into a global organization—aligning Executive Partner membership programs, establishing the global ports committee and consolidating research activities globally.'

Scaillet, who is based in Luxembourg, has managed CLIA's global research agenda, including economic impact studies, market profiling and key industry capacity and deployment data. He has represented CLIA at key cruise and travel industry events and worked to support further expansion into new markets.

The restructuring of CLIA's Executive Partner program includes 'creating communities of interest and adding new events and other exclusive offerings' for each of the four new categories: Ports & Destinations, Travel Operators, Technical & Supply Chain Providers and Business Services Providers.

Additionally, in 2015 CLIA will restrict access to most of its events to members only, and will offer Executive Partners preferential sponsorship opportunities.

The geographic-based National, Regional and Global levels in CLIA’s current Executive Partner program will be replaced by Silver, Gold and Diamond membership levels in 2015. Silver-level memberships offer more affordable, entry-level membership for smaller national markets in Europe, Australasia and emerging markets, while Gold and Diamond memberships provide additional benefits for more established markets.
