Visby's new cruise facility can berth two 340mtr long ships at the same time
Cruise and Maritime Voyages’ Astoria will be the first vessel to use Visby’s new cruise facility on the island of Gotland, Sweden, when the ship calls on April 16.

Astoria is one of 67 calls scheduled to berth alongside in Visby this year, according to operator Copenhagen Malmo Port.

CMV’s Astoria will be on a ‘Hidden Baltic Treasures & Kiel Canal’ 9 night cruise from London Tilbury.

Mike Hall, head of marketing at CMV said ‘We are delighted to be involved in making history in Visby. Baltic cruises are an important part of our continued development and we plan to use the new berth on future cruises.’

The new cruise facility can accommodate two cruise vessels of 340mtr simultaneously at the berth, which extends 530mtr into the sea. Construction work began in early 2016.

Henrik Ahlqvist, cruise terminal manager at the Visby port said, ‘CMP is looking forward with great enthusiasm to have Astoria as the first cruise ship calling at the newly built cruise pier in Visby. We are sure it will be an epic day for Astoria’s passengers, crew, Gotland/Visby and CMV.’

Astoria is scheduled to return to Visby in April 2019, while CMV’s Marco Polo will be calling later this year.
