Corner Brook readies for Oceania's Marina, first ship three years running
For the third year in a row, Oceania Cruises' Marina will open the cruise season at Newfoundland and Labrador's Port of Corner Brook.

The ship is due to arrive Saturday as part of a 16-day 'River Routes & Channel Crossings' cruise from Montréal to London. Ports in Canada, Ireland and the UK are on the itinerary.

Marina made its inaugural visit to Corner Brook on June 3, 2013, and returned in 2014 to kick off the season on May 30.

Corner Brook Port Corp. expects 11 cruise calls this year, up from nine in 2014.

They include Fred. Olsen's Black Watch on June 11, the maiden call of Oceania's Insignia on July 27 and Holland America's Veendam on July 28. Cruise & Maritime Voyages' Marco Polo will arrive Aug. 20 for an overnight visit, and Black Watch will return Aug. 23.

Silversea Cruises' Silver Whisper is booked for Sept. 21, Phoenix Reisen's Albatros for Sept. 27 and Princess Cruises' Caribbean Princess on Sept. 28. Marco Polo will return for a second overnight visit on Oct. 1 and Saga Sapphire will make a maiden call on Oct. 3, closing the season.
