Costa backs 'Pink is Good' breast cancer campaign

Costa backs 'Pink is Good' breast cancer campaign
Passengers sailing with Costa Cruises in the Mediterranean this month can support the 'Pink is Good' campaign to prevent and cure breast cancer. The campaign is by Fondazione Umberto Veronesi, a leader in the fight against a disease that affects more than 48,000 women in Italy every year.

Passengers can contribute to fund a scholarship for a deserving young Italian researcher and learn about the 'Pink is Good' mission of promoting prevention and supporting medical research.

Nine ships in the fleet are involved. Proceeds from events starting Oct. 10 and continuing through the month include a Pink Day when passengers can donate via activities like buying a non-alcoholic pink cocktails or a pink mask in preparation for the 'Notte in Maschera' costume party.

A marathon will be held on the ships' decks and runners can support the Fondazione Umberto Veronesi by purchasing race bibs. During the 'pink' events on board souvenir portraits will be printed with a pink frame and proceeds from their purchase are going to scientific research. There will be drawing and painting activities, too.

A cabin video explains the 'Pink is Good' campaign and a schedule of all the 'pink' activities is included in the daily program.
