A surprise in the post (Photo: Costa Cruises)
Costa Cruises became the latest line to offer passengers a miniature three-dimensional image of themselves. Costa partnered with Spain's Labs3D on the concept.

Using a hand-held scanner, shipboard experts capture a full body scan of the passenger in minutes. A file generated by a software program is sent via secure link to the Labs3D studio in Barcelona, where it's processed in a 3-D printer, creating a miniature three-dimensional likeness of the person.

The 'statuette' is then shipped to the passenger's home.

The reproductions are available in five sizes, from 13 centimeters to 21 centimeters. Prices start at €89 plus shipping.

This special souvenir is available only in connection with Costa Diadema's seven-day cruises in the western Mediterranean.

AIDA Cruises offers a similar concept in partnership with Twinkind of Berlin.
