Costa Luminosa prepares to depart on 106-day round-the-world cruise

Over 2,000 guests will be embarking Costa Luminosa in Venice on Saturday for the start of a 106-day round-the-world cruise travelling across three oceans and visiting 41 destinations before returning to Venice on April 22.

Costa Luminosa will repeat the sailing again next year, departing from Venice on January 5, 2019.

Costa Cruises reports passengers on the 2018 voyage hail from more than 30 different countries, with the majority from France (around 500), Italy and Germany (over 300 for each country), Switzerland (over 200), Spain (just under 200) and Austria (over 100). The oldest, a man from Italy, is 92 years old, while the youngest is a one year old French boy.

The itinerary includes destinations like the Antilles, Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico and California; after crossing the Pacific Ocean, the tour will continue on to Hawaii, Polynesia, Fiji islands, Australia and Indonesia, before finishing with calls at Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, the Arab Emirates, Oman and Greece.

Another highlight of this cruise will be extended calls in cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sydney, Singapore, Phuket, Cochin, Mumbai, Dubai and Muscat.
