Costa Cruises will commemorate Italian Republic Day aboard its ships—all flying the Italian flag—with June 2 events for passengers and, over a stretch of days, involving local officials at calls in four northern Europe ports.

Organized by Italian embassies and consulates, these open with Costa Favolosa on May 30 in Copenhagen and continue with Costa Pacifica on May 31 in Kiel and Costa Fortuna on June 9 in Stavanger before ending with Costa Favolosa on June 11 in Oslo.

For the festivities in Stavanger, one of Norway's important business centers, Costa will host city representatives as well as the leading Italian and international companies operating in the area.

Events include lunch and toasting highlighting Italian culinary tradition and 'Made in Italy' brands illy coffee, Ferrari sparkling wines and Guido Gobino artisanal chocolates. In Oslo the company will serve a typical Italian breakfast with featuring traditional pastry.

Costa president Neil Palomba noted his company's ships have been ambassadors of Italian culture around the globe for the past 67 years.

Each year the line takes the opportunity of the festivities for the birth of the Italian republic to share 'the values that distinguish the Italian spirit, an unmistakable lifestyle, that we are proud to express and represent around the world,' Palomba added.

In addition to the northern Europe events, on June 2 all Costa ships will serve special menus and cocktails inspired by the Italian flag and play the national anthem.

In addition, Costa will provide support to the general consulate of Dubai in organizing festivities to promote Italy in local communities.
