It's official: European river giant CroisiEurope is expanding its ocean-cruise fleet by acquiring a second ship, Silver Discoverer. It will operate as La Belle des Océans.

The deal had been rumored for some time.

Leaving Silversea service this summer

As reported here a year ago, Silversea Cruises is ending its charter of Silver Discoverer from SunStone Ships, and the 120-passenger expedition vessel will be leaving the fleet this summer. According to SunStone, the handover is scheduled between late July and early August in Singapore.

CroisiEurope, which also operates the ocean-going La Belle de l’Adriatique, plans to announce itineraries soon. La Belle des Océans is scheduled to be inaugurated next spring.

Ex-Clipper Odyssey, Oceanic Odyssey, Oceanic Grace

Built in 1989 and extensively refurbished in 2014, the ship has previously operated as Clipper Odyssey, Oceanic Odyssey and Oceanic Grace.

The 103-meter, 5,218gt vessel has seven decks and all-suite, ocean-view accommodations, nine with balconies.

Public spaces include a pair of lounges, a restaurant, a poolside bar-grill, a fitness center, beauty salon with hairdresser and spa, and laundry service.

Some 220,000 people traveled with Strasbourg-based CroisiEurope in 2018.
