Flying the flag for cruising in Norway
Norway's popularity as a cruise destination continues to increase. In 2018, both ship arrivals and day visiting cruise guests are expected to rise again, informs Inge Tangerås, md of Cruise Norway.

With passenger numbers just below 3 million day guests in total for 2017, the prognosis indicates that Norway will pass 3 million day guests in 2018 by a good margin, he added.

Cruise Norway and Innovation Norway are currently collecting the exact figures for 2017 and the forecast for 2018 and will distribute the numbers in January 2018.

Even though Norway primarily is a summer destination, the country has become a popular all year-round destination for cruise lines. Winter cruises offering the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights and exploring various winter experiences are increasingly popular.

Looking ahead to next year, more than 20 Norwegian cruise ports, destinations and agents will participate under the Cruise Norway umbrella at Seatrade Cruise Global, March 5-8, 2018 in Ft. Lauderdale.

Two Norway Days are also planned, one in Hamburg and one in London during the last week of May, 2018.

Following up a successful participation at Seatrade Europe in Hamburg in 2017, Cruise Norway is planning to attend in numbers at Seatrade Cruise Med, in Lisbon September 19-20, 2018.
