'Hopefully the administration finds a way for us to continue to sail to Cuba,' Del Rio said.
No political pressure
'We think [Cuba] is good for the industry. We don't want to put pressure on the political side. It's business as usual until it's not,' Del Rio said in response to an earnings call question about what came from a rumored visit to Washington by Del Rio and colleagues from other cruise companies.
Del Rio didn't confirm or deny anything about a Washington trip, but said it's too early to tell what's going to happen in the cruise area. More clarity on the Trump administration's new Cuba travel policiesis expected.
'This is government, not business. We just have to wait and see,' Del Rio said.
Meanwhile, current regulations allow people-to-people travel, and cruises continue.
According to an analysis by Wells Fargo Securities, NCLH is potentially the most exposed of the three major cruise companies should Cuba sailings end.
