More than 20 senior-level cruise executives and about 100 Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association Platinum Members are meeting in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, for the FCCA PAMAC Summit. The three-day event kicked off Wednesday.

'FCCA Platinum events bring together Platinum Members with some of the most important decision-makers in the cruise industry,' FCCA/Carnival Corp. & plc chairman Micky Arison said. 'By discussing pertinent operational matters and forging invaluable business relationships, Platinum Members gain a competitive advantage and a foot in the cruise industry’s door.'

One of the event’s most important proceedings, the PAMAC Meeting, puts Platinum Members, cruise executives and key stakeholders together to discuss the industry's latest developments and issues, from the global and national level to individual members’ questions and input. It also gives a forum for Platinum Members’ presentations and announcements.

The PAMAC Meeting is extremely important in ensuring open communications about challenges and giving the opportunity to learn from each other and a forum for discussing how the destination experience can be improved, according to Russell Daya, executive director, global port operations and developments, Disney Cruise Line, and chairman of the FCCA Operations Committee.

The PAMAC Summit's one-on-one meetings give Platinum Members a chance to present their destination or product to the cruise executives of their choice.

These meetings enable cruise lines to learn about Platinum Members’ new developments and products and help fine-tune them to best fit the cruise lines' needs, according to Federico Gonzalez-Denton, associate vp, government relations for Latin America and the Caribbean, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

Also part of the PMAC Summit are events and excursions that highlight Puerto Plata’s offerings and the new Amber Cove Cruise Port, where infrastructure and excursions have been developed by Carnival Corp., the Dominican Republic government and the Puerto Plata community and tour operators over the last few years.

'We are very proud to show FCCA Platinum Members the result of our work with the Dominican Republic government and community of Puerto Plata alongside our JV partner to welcome cruise guests to a new and exciting cruise destination destined to become a passenger favorite,' said David Candib, vp development & operations, Carnival Corp.
