Bratland's last day at Cruise Norway is August 31, 2017 and she takes up her Bergen post on September 1, replacing Helen Hovland who has worked at Norway's leading cruise port for almost 30 years and is retiring this month.
'Sandra has done an excellent job on behalf of Cruise Norway which is widely recognized in the industry to be a well-run and well recognized organization with great connection with the cruise lines, co-operating partners and the owners of the company,' said Ingvar Mathisen, chairman of Cruise Norway.
He said the board was pleased that she will be remaining within the Cruise Norway family as Bergen is a key member.
Cruise Norway has started the process of finding a successor and will engage a recruiting company to assist, confirmed Mathisen who is also port director of Bodø.
He is leading the hiring committee consisting of board members Rita Berstad Maraak (port director, Geirangerfjord Cruise Port) and Vigleik Dueland (director of tourism, Destination Haugesund).
The aim is to have a new director in place this coming autumn, he confirmed.
'I am very much looking forward to assuming my new role in Norway's largest cruise port and to work closely with the cruise lines, local attractions and local politicians bringing cruise port Bergen into the future,' Bratland told Seatrade Cruise News.
