Crystal extends free Wi-Fi to all cruisers, an hour per day in most categories
Crystal Cruises is expanding free Internet access to all passengers on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity beginning Aug. 30.

One free hour per person, per day will be provided for travelers in deluxe staterooms and penthouses, and 90 minutes for those in penthouse suites. Free Wi-Fi will also be available on Crystal Yacht Cruises’ Crystal Esprit when the maiden voyage embarks Dec. 23.

The free Wi-Fi perk was previously available only to Crystal Society members (repeat customers).

Travelers can use their own devices or one of the ships’ work stations or portable laptop rentals.

Crystal also sells packages for those who need more time online. Plan A offers 'pay as you go' service at 74 cents per minute, while Plan B gives two hours for $55 (46 cents per minute). Plan C provides five hours for $127 (43 cents per minute) and Plan D offers 10 hours for $220 (37 cents per minute).

Last year Crystal improved the service by maximizing satellite bandwidth, expanding the Wi-Fi signal range throughout the ships to make wireless connection available everywhere on board and enabling Internet access in areas that were previously unavailable, such as Japan.
