The B777-200LR jet, rendered in Crystal Luxury Air livery, joins the earlier announced 787-8 Dreamliner
Crystal Cruises confirmed the purchase of a Boeing Business Jet B777-200LR to operate global itineraries under the brand extension Crystal Luxury Air. This follows the earlier announced plans to introduce extravagant air vacations aboard a luxurious Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and, as reported here, a Genting Hong Kong filing about the purchase of two planes.

Crystal said it will work with the Registry of Aruba to develop and secure an Air Operator’s Certificate that will pave the way for Crystal Luxury Air to launch international operations.

Crystal president and ceo Edie Rodriguez said travelers and travel agents had expressed a strong interest in a wider range of itineraries, prompting the second aircraft.

The twin-aisle BBJ B777-200LR will be redesigned to accommodate just 88 travelers with flat-bed first class seats and a lounge and bar. The aircraft will offer 14- and 28-day around-the-world and international itineraries, beginning in 2017.

'Our mission is to make Crystal the core of what will become the world’s premier luxury hospitality and lifestyle brand collection, not only for the immediate future, but for years to come,' Crystal chairman Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay said.

The twin-aisle Boeing 777-200LR, and the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which typically seats up to 300 passengers and will be redesigned to accommodate just 52 travelers, will offer Crystal-style luxury, including space, plush amenities and world-class service and crew.

The company said its air trips will include accommodations at 'the world’s most luxurious hotels, the finest Michelin star-level cuisine prepared by celebrated chefs and fabulous local cultural entertainment.'

Additionally, the aircrafts will be available for charter.
