On hand for the keel-laying were executives from RCL, Celebrity, De Hoop, BG Studios and Lloyd's Register
De Hoop laid the keel for Celebrity Flora, a newbuild destined for year-round Galápagos service, at a ceremony in Tolkamer, Netherlands.

For good luck, a coin was placed in the dock before the 49.2-ton keel block was lowered into position.

Representing Royal Carbbean Cruises Ltd. was Joseph Miorelli, associate VP, newbuild technical projects, while Celebrity officials included Bernardo Carrillo, managing director, Celebrity Vacations; Robert Flack, director, hotel operations, newbuild and revitalizations; Eelco Cornelisse, site manager, and Stavros Zanikos, chief engineer.

De Hoop CEO Patrick Janssens and technical director Fré Drenth were there, along with Peter Guelle from BG Studios and Lloyd's Register's Remco van Ee.

Celebrity Flora is scheduled for delivery in spring 2019. The ship will sail from Baltra in the Galápagos starting May 26, 2019.
