De la Fuente departing SATS-Creuers in Singapore

De la Fuente
Norma de la Fuente over 15 years experience in cruise port and terminal sector
Norma de la Fuente is leaving Asia after almost seven years based in Singapore as head of marketing and business development at SATS-Creuers Cruise Services(SCCS), the terminal operator of Marina Bay Cruise Centre (MBCCS).

De la Fuente is moving to the US to pursue personal interests at the end of January but will continue as an advisor and consultant to SCCS for the next six months including attending Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami.

Jeremy Lim is taking on the role of head of marketing and business development at SATS-Creuers Cruise Services.

More than 15 years experience in cruise

‘I will work remotely from the US to ensure a smooth transition and share my expertise in the industry and relationships with key stakeholders,’ de la Fuente, who has worked in the cruise sector for more than 15 years, including previously at the Port of Barcelona, told SCN.

De la Funete has been at the helm of marketing at SATS-Creuers Services in Singapore since the launch of MBCCS in 2012.

The terminal has a total berthing line length of 695mtr with two piers able to accommodate two ships up to 220,000gt simultaneously, and handle up to 6,800 passengers at a time.

It experienced an increase of 31% ship calls and 51% passengers in 2017 and significant growth is expected to continue.

Smart terminal solution

Last year SATS-Creuers Cruise Services appointed Singapore’s NCS Communications Engineering to support in the implementation of a smart terminal solution.

Sensors placed at strategic locations such as check-in terminals and baggage handling area will provide real-time monitoring of traffic conditions and passenger flows and detect congestions at these locations.

Global Ports Holding is a shareholder of SATS-Creuers Cruise Services.
