Debbie Summers, executive director of ID New Zealand, the country’s largest cruise ground handler which is a finalist in the innovative shorex category for the 2016 Seatrade Cruise Awards, was elected chair at this week’s annual Cruise New Zealand conference in Wellington.

Summers, a former tourism manager for Sulivan Shipping in the Falkland Islands where she grew the cruise business, moved to New Zealand nine years ago after being head-hunted by IDNZ.

She is a graduate of the Seatrade Academy’s Cruise Master Class in Cambridge and a veteran delegate at Seatrade Cruise Global.

As previously reported, former chairman Kevin O’Sullivan stood down following his appointment as Cruise New Zealand’s executive officer.
