Symphony of the Seas is under construction at STX France
Symphony of the Seas, the fourth in Royal Caribbean's Oasis series, will become the new world's largest cruise ship on its April 2018 debut.

Symphony will offer all the Oasis-class features and some new ones, president and ceo Michael Bayley said Wednesday.

But he wasn't giving much away in what, he admitted, was 'a bit of a tease.'

The ship will be 'slightly longer and a tad wider' than current record-holder Harmony of the Seas, Bayley said. (However, a company infographic released today lists the length as 1,188 feet and width as 215.5 feet—the same dimensions as Harmony.)

Tonnage is being put at 230,000, a bit greater than Harmony's 227,000gt.

Bayley added Symphony will have 20 to 30 more 'nice-size staterooms,' a couple additional features, and the Solarium design has been changed 'quite a lot.'

The ship is under construction at STX France and due for delivery in April 2018. It will sail first from Barcelona, then Miami.
