P&O Cruises' Australia president Sture Myrmell said Dora is a family favourite
Dora the Explorer will be godmother to Pacific Explorer at ‘P&O’s Nautical Nonsense with Nickelodeon Welcome Party’ on board the ship in Sydney Harbour on July 2.

As previously reported, Pacific Explorer, the fifth ship in P&O Cruises Australia’s fleet, arrived in Sydney on Monday after her conversion from the 1,998 passenger Dawn Princess in Singapore.

She sails today on her first scheduled cruise to Noumea, Lifou, Port Vila, Mystery Island and Isle of Pines.On July 2, she makes an eight-night cruise to Noumea, Mare and Isle of Pines.

Dora will be joined by her Nickelodeon friends at the christening party, including SpongeBob, SquarePants and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

‘In keeping with the ship’s family appeal, it felt only fitting to invite a much loved household name like Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer to be godmother,’ president Sture Myrmell said.

‘She’s a family favourite, enjoys adventure and trying new activities and is a perfect fit to help showcase all that our ship has to offer.’

Vp and gm of Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand, Ben Cox, said:  ‘We’re excited for Dora to take on her new role as godmother of Pacific Explorer. Nickelodeon is synonymous with family entertainment and we can’t wait to bring our characters onboard this fantastic ship to host the best family party yet.’
